Acornaih's Beta Reader Profile UPDATED DECEMBER 2015
------------------------------
:D

1. Are you new to beta reading?
No. I've beta-read here on dA for several wonderful people, and I've beta-read outside of dA as well- everything from college papers and poetry to novels and short stories. Additionally, I'm a proofreader for a quarterly-published magazine, and I do freelance proofing and editing whenever I'm lucky enough to land work.

2. Your age (optional):
I'm in my third year at college. ^^

3. How many authors would you like to beta read?
Three at a time is pretty standard for me. I'm already beta-reading for someone else at the moment, as well as working on my own novel.

4. Genre(s); Please be specific:
I'll read anything, really. Gore doesn't frighten me, nor does erotica, although I'd rather avoid pieces where the previously stated are the sole themes. Also, vampires really stick in my craw... XD

Genres:
Romance, fantasy, thriller, mystery, christian/inspirational, basically...anything you can think of that I cannot at the moment. x)

5. What won't you beta?
Above stated^ vampires, and I prefer to avoid stories where gore and erotica are the main themes. ;P I'm pretty easy-going. I write some pretty strange/nasty stuff, so I don't fly off the handle if I read it.

6. What's your writing skill level?
I'm somewhere between intermediate and advanced. Once I write it down, I can look at it and know what I messed up and how to fix it. (But easier said than done..!) I consider myself a much better/advanced beta reader; I know what I'm looking for, and what good writing sounds like.

7. How serious are you about your writing?
Very. Although my current major in college is in the arts, I very much would like to earn a degree in English/creative writing/something of the like. I'm in the editing process of my current novel, which I'm going to get printed. I plan to incorporate writing and/or editing as a large part of my career, and am taking steps to make that happen.

8. Your writing strengths:
I'm very good grammatically, so I'll definitely make a good proofreader. I'm good at writing emotion in people, probably because I'm a mush-ball myself. I can write a happy scene you can feel warming you up, and a sad scene that bums you out for a few hours after reading.

9. Writing weaknesses:
Sometimes my character development doesn't always hit the mark, (they do things entirely counter to their character) and I walk away unsatisfied. However,  It's not constant; most of the characters I create are pretty believable fellows. But on occasion I have that one that's just....wrong.

10. What are you looking for in an author?
Someone who doesn't mind honest critique. I've received very harsh critique on my work before and promised myself I'd find a kinder way to explain. But then there are some people who go nuts no matter how nicely you break it to them.
It'd also be cool if I could end up forming a friendship with my author (s).  :)

11. Do you promise to put sincere effort into your partnership?
Of course. I wouldn't be applying otherwise. :) Bring it on, guys.
Updated June 2015! Beta reading anyone? :)

Currently reading:

Nothing ^^  (If uh..I SHOULD be reading something I've forgotten....please, send me a note! I'll correct the error immediately!)
